Keep Australia Beautiful Week 20th - 26th August
You may not realise that it’s Keep Australia Beautiful Week and this years focus is on motorists and holiday makers. The volume of litter that is found on our highways and roads is only second to industrial sites. We’re talking tens of thousands of tonnes of takeaway containers/wrappers, bottles, cigarette butts, newspapers and so forth every single year. While industrial sites can contain their rubbish and at least have recycling programs, highway and road litter is left to pollute and can cause injury to animals and marine life.
WHAT YOU CAN DO -
Don’t throw your litter out the car window. Dispose of it properly in bins when you stop. If you can hold on to it, try and recycle it. It really isn’t that hard.
